If the Green Bay Packers are the cheese heads, the Chicago Bears are the cheese graters.
After the Bears’ epic 31-27 win over the Packers at Soldier Field in the first round of the NFL playoffs on Saturday January, 10, quarterback Caleb Williams, wide receiver DJ Moore and tight end Colston Loveland joined the Amazon Prime postgame crew TV to celebrate — cheese graters and all.
The three Bears players rocked special cheese grater headgear — trolling their rival Packers, whose fans are known for being “cheese heads” — while Williams even brought out a real cheese grater and shredded some cheese.
The Bears fans who stuck around for the moment loved it.
Williams, Moore and Loveland had plenty to celebrate with the crew, leading a historic 18-point comeback to win the game — yet another significant chapter in the decorated rivalry.
After falling behind 21-3 at halftime, the Bears rallied in the second half and scored 25 points in the fourth quarter. The team took the lead on a touchdown pass from Williams to Moore late in the game.
‘“We understand that it’s 60 minutes of football,” Williams said after the game. “We understand and know who we are, we understand what this means for the city. So we keep going and keep fighting.”
Williams continued: “Play with the frustration, the anger, all of that. Use that for our advantage. Right before I walked out I told the offensive line, the other quarterbacks, we are going to protect our den today.”
It’s the Bears’ first playoff win against the Packers since December 14, 1941, and their first overall playoff win since the 2010-11 season. (The Packers went on to end the Bears’ season that year in the NFC Championship.)
After the game on Saturday, Bears head coach Ben Johnson gave Packers coach Matt LeFleur an icy handshake, seemingly cutting it short in a moment that went viral on social media.
In the locker room, he gave an expletive-filled speech to fire up his team after the huge victory.
“Hell yeah!” Johnson said. “F*** the Packers, man! F*** them!”
He continued: “You go into the tournament coming off the two losses, you look up at halftime in this game and it’s 21-3. No f***ing panic. Built for pressure. That’s you guys!”
Williams got emotional in the locker room after the win, praising Johnson, the rest of the coaching staff and his teammates for sticking with it until the end.
“I said last night, you make your money in the regular season, and in the postseason your legacy and your name,” Williams said. “And so, that’s us. … I want to keep this s*** better. We have to f***ing get better.”
He continued: “Look at this guy right here (Johnson). Everything he’s done for us as a coach, everything the other coaches have done for us and it started with him. … And for me personally, he’s been monumental in my life so far. And so, to his first playoff win as the Chicago Bears head coach.”
While the Bears’ next opponent is still up in the air (dependent on results from Sunday’s playoff slate), they are locked into another home postseason game next week.
If the Philadelphia Eagles win their matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, the Bears will host the defending Super Bowl champions.
If the 49ers win, the Bears will host the Los Angeles Rams, who beat the Carolina Panthers on Saturday in their playoff matchup.
