A clueless criminal made a major score recently when he knocked over a Midtown studio filled with pricey audio and video equipment, plus a plethora of laptops.
The only hitch?
The Herald Square target was Dan Abrams’ Law&Crime Productions, home to true crime shows like “Crimefeed” and “Court Cam.”
Abrams is also the host of the police show “On Patrol Live” on Reelz.
An insider told us of the takedown: “They were robbed on Sunday… a guy came in with a wagon and took $30,000 worth of equipment and laptops.” The bandit even stole Abrams’ equipment for his SiriusXM show.
Sadly for the suspect, “They’re the wrong guys to rob. They had surveillance cameras all over the office, so they immediately had pics of the thief!”
Even worse for the perp, some staffers had trackers on their computers — and the next day, just as NYPD officers were on the scene, they deduced the thief was in Keyport, NJ.
One of the co-hosts of “On Patrol Live,” Captain Tom Rizzo, just happens to be a Jersey cop. After they got Rizzo on the horn, the seasoned vet jumped into action and deduced the address where the suspect was — a Jersey pawn shop!
A source tells us Rizzo worked with the NYPD and determined, “We’ve got enough to move on this.”
When Jersey cops arrived, the pawn shop proprietor said someone was trying to unload the laptops just minutes prior — but he wouldn’t take the ill-gotten goods, we hear.
The fuzz “looked around, and behind the pawn shop they found the guy with all their equipment.” We hear the suspect is being held.
To add to the absurdity, the ill-fated burglar also grabbed some merch from Law&Crime, including, “a bunch of hats.”
Top rated “On Patrol Live” follows police departments around the country live. We hear they’re even airing a special on their own robbery, and how they cracked the case, Friday.
