Bunnie Xo revealed that her divorce from Jelly Roll took an extreme physical toll on her.
âThere was moments when my team had to pick me up off the floor and give me IVs,â she said on Thursdayâs episode of Jenna Bush Hagerâs âOpen Bookâ podcast, noting that she âwasnât eatingâ after the exes split in May.
âI was eating baby food to get by. I lost 20 pounds,â Bunnie, 46, shared, before joking, âHeartbreak, man, itâs the best freaking diet.â
Bunnie, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, was married to Jelly Roll, 41, for nearly ten years before the Grammy Award-winning singer filed for divorce on May 18.
They settled their divorce in July, Page Six confirmed at the time.
Bunnie explained on Bush Hagerâs podcast that she wants to come out of her divorce stronger than ever.
âThatâs all you can do. When life hands you lemons, make freaking lemonade,â she said, before clarifying that she doesnât want people to think sheâs âout here acting like nothing doesnât hurt.â
âYeah, it hurt,â she continued. âAnd I talked about it and I let viewers in and I let them know on my podcast.â
Bunnie previously opened up at length about her split from Jelly on her âDumb Blondeâ podcast, but she deleted the June 18 episode because, as she told Bush Hager, she âdidnât want to live in itâ
âI said what I needed to say. I made a shitload off of it,â she shared. âIf I was gonna do it for money, I wouldâve left it up. Every time I went to my YouTube, I didnât want to see that.â
Bunnie added, âAnd I also donât want to be the freaking poster child for divorce. Thereâs nothing hot about that. Itâs a very devastating situation that anybody ever has to go through. Families get broken up. Hearts get broken. So itâs time to move on.â
The âStripped Downâ author also noted that she was her âown personâ and could âstand on my own two feetâ during her marriage.
âSo I donât see why I couldnât continue to stand on my own two feet and not have to dwell in that space of emotion,â she said.
During her deleted podcast episode, Bunnie revealed the exes had a final argument on Motherâs Day when she encouraged Jelly to âfile the fâking divorce papers.â However, she admitted she was âspeaking out of anger and frustrationâ and didnât actually want to break up.
Bunnie also revealed she and Jelly were still planning on âhaving a baby togetherâ after her grueling IVF journey.
Jelly, meanwhile, has been much quieter about the divorce, though he did tell fans at a June concert in Saratoga Springs, New York, that he and Bunnie âwill always be best friends.â
The singer has been much more vocal about his weight loss since the split.
