Brooklyn Beckham takes veiled dig at his family in gushing anniversary tribute to wife Nicola Peltz

Brooklyn Beckham appeared to take a thinly veiled swipe at his estranged family as he shared a gushing tribute to his wife, Nicola Peltz, for their fourth wedding anniversary. 

The couple, who now live in Los Angeles, tied the knot on 9 April 2022 in a lavish $3 million wedding at the Peltz family’s palatial estate in Palm Beach, Florida – a sprawling mansion boasting 27 bedrooms. They announced their engagement in July 2020, but the actual ceremony was pushed back due to the coronavirus pandemic. 

Taking to his Instagram story on Friday morning, Brooklyn, 27, wrote: “Happy anniversary @nicolaannepeltzbeckham x I love you with all my heart. Can’t wait to stay young with you xx love you so so much x.” The post was accompanied by a huge bouquet of white roses and an anniversary card with bold printed text. 

His message, reading “Dear Nicola”, said “we have been through so much together” – likely a reference to his ongoing feud with the rest of the Beckhams. He added: “Today, we are stronger than ever and you are my best friend. I can’t wait to grow old together with you. Love you so much x.”

In another story that could be seen as a swipe at his family, Brooklyn shared a picture of white flowers that had been sent by 31-year-old Nicola’s parents, billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz and his wife Claudia. 

It’s unknown whether Brooklyn’s family back in the UK will have been in touch to wish them a happy anniversary.

The couple’s guest list comprised nearly 500 friends and family members, including A-listers Gigi Hadid, Nicole Richie, the Spice Girls, chef Gordon Ramsay, Serena Williams, Eva Longoria, and Marc Anthony.

Brooklyn wore a Dior morning suit designed by Kim Jones, with Nicola thoughtfully organising a bespoke label to be sewn into the jacket. 

Nicola’s wedding dress, meanwhile, was the source of much controversy, as Spice Girl Victoria was originally intended to design it.

“A few days went by, and I didn’t hear anything. Victoria called my mom and said her atelier couldn’t make it,” Nicola told Grazia USA previously. Instead, she opted for a Valentino haute couture gown, with a breathtaking minimalist design. 

The stunning bride walked down the aisle to the tune of “Songbird”, with evening entertainment including a jazz quartet and 12-piece band, and a first dance to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love”. 

Family fallout

Brooklyn, 27, is estranged from the rest of the Beckham family, including parents David, 50, and Victoria, 51. The rift also appears to include his siblings, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14.

In January, he shared an explosive six-page statement about his family to his public Instagram account. At the time, he insisted that he didn’t want to “reconcile” with his parents, and accused them of trying to “ruin” his relationship with Nicola. However, he has not commented on the feud since. 

Last month, however, his brother Cruz appeared to become tearful on stage during his London gig as he sang about a “loneliest boy” – apparently referencing his older brother.
