Brooklyn Beckham praises ‘best’ mother-in-law as his family celebrate Mother’s Day in the UK

Brooklyn Beckham has shared a gushing message about his mother-in-law amid his estrangement from his family on Mother’s Day. While the Beckhams penned heartfelt tributes honouring Victoria Beckham on Mother’s Day in the UK, Brooklyn, who lives in Los Angeles with his wife Nicola Peltz, instead took to social media ahead of the annual holiday to share a late birthday message for Nicola’s mum, Claudia Heffner Peltz. 

“Happy birthday to the best mother in law x,” Brooklyn captioned a photo of him, Nicola and Claudia all smiling together, which was originally posted to his wife’s Instagram grid following Claudia’s 71st birthday celebrations on 12 March. “Love u so much and hope u had the most amazing day,” he added, posting the message in the early hours of Mother’s Day in the UK, which was during the evening on 14 March in the US. 

Brooklyn and Nicola rang in Claudia’s birthday with balloons and lots of flowers. “I’m so happy I got to spend your special day with you,” Nicola captioned the photos, adding: “I love celebrating you – your light is so bright you make everything better in this world.”

The Beckham’s celebrate Mother’s Day

Brooklyn’s post preceded the Beckham family’s Mother’s Day messages on 15 March. Brooklyn’s dad David Beckham led the family tributes by hailing Victoria as an “inspiration” to their four children, Brooklyn, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and Harper, 14, and an “amazing mummy”. 

“You are an inspiration in all the ways a mum should be to our 4 amazing children,” the former professional footballer wrote alongside a photo of Victoria from when she was pregnant, not featuring any of their children in his post.

He continued: “We love you so much and I’m so thankful for the family we have created. Have a special Mother’s Day because if there’s one person that deserves it it’s you [pink heart emoji]. I love you.”

David and Victoria’s youngest and only daughter, Harper, said her mum was the “best mum ever” in a rare public message which was reposted to Victoria’s Story. “Thank you for always being there for me, supporting me, and putting up with me even on my worst days. I don’t say it enough, but I’m really grateful for everything you do for me every single day. I love you so much and hope you have the best day because you deserve it,” she wrote. 

While Brooklyn has not at the time of writing shared a public message to his mum, Victoria’s two other sons, Cruz and Romeo, both celebrated the UK holiday on social media. Romeo thanked his mum “for all you do” in a sweet post alongside a throwback photo from when he was little. “No one does it like u, love u so much and always,” he added. Meanwhile, Cruz unearthed an old photo of him and his mum to mark the special day. 

Brooklyn’s rift with his family

This year marks the first Mother’s Day since Brooklyn addressed speculation of a rift with the Beckhams and declared he does “not want to reconcile” with his family in a scathing January social media post. On 20 January, Brooklyn made several bombshell claims about his parents, including his mother’s alleged “inappropriate” behaviour at his wedding to Nicola Peltz in April 2022. 

“My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song,” he claimed.

He continued: “In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife, but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead. She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”

Brooklyn also claimed Victoria had “cancelled” making Nicola’s wedding dress at the “eleventh hour” and alleged his mum had called him “evil” during the wedding planning stages after choosing to have his and Nicola’s grandmothers sit at their table. 

Brooklyn went on to claim his family had “consistently disrespected” Nicola and alleged Victoria had “repeatedly invited women from my past into our lives in ways that were clearly intended to make us both uncomfortable.”
