Stephanie J. Block is sharing Cher’s story once more.
On Oct. 31, E! News announced that the actress, 52, will lend her voice to the audiobook of Cher’s forthcoming memoir, Cher: The Memoir, Part One. The first installment of the singer’s two-part memoir will be published on Nov. 19 via Dey Street Books.
Block will co-narrate the audiobook alongside Cher, 78, with the “Believe” singer introducing each chapter of the audiobook.
Block played Cher in the Broadway musical, The Cher Show, and won a Tony Award for her performance. Cher explained that it was this familiarity with her story that led her to choose Block as her co-narrator.
“I knew I wouldn’t be able to do it all myself,” Cher said in a statement. “I knew [Block] would be the perfect choice to get across to the reader the essence of me. I called her and within hours she rearranged her schedule to start the recording.”
“Lending my voice to help Cher deliver the memoir has been an honor and a thrill,” Block said in a statement. “Her life is fascinating, glamorous, surprising, exciting — and at times, completely heartbreaking. Her story is a beautiful balance of ULTIMATE stardom and accessibility. She is CHER for a reason and this book helps the reader get behind ‘the reason.’”
Cher’s memoir shares the first part of the Grammy winner’s long-awaited life story, from her rise to fame within the music industry to her “highly complicated relationship” with Sonny Bono, per the book’s synopsis.

“With her trademark honesty and humor, Cher: The Memoir traces how this diamond in the rough succeeded with no plan and little confidence to become the trailblazing superstar the world has been unable to ignore for more than half a century,” reads a press release previously shared with PEOPLE.
A second installment is on the way in 2025, to finish the story.
For Block, whose Broadway credits include shows like Wicked and Into the Woods, starring in The Cher Show alongside costars Micaela Diamond and Teal Wicks allowed her to reflect on the importance of self-confidence.
“She’s allowed me to be more me, which is such a wild thing to say at my age,” Block told PEOPLE in 2019. “She is authentically herself always, and that has given me the permission to do the same. You know, usually in the process of putting together a musical, you want to stay in your lane. But this time, I felt the confidence to speak up about ideas I had with the production, the script, the direction. Not all came to fruition, but I know what I was bringing to the table had worth. And being Cher allowed me to do that.”
