Britney Spears is breaking out her Rolodex as her son Jayden James works toward launching a music career of his own, a source exclusively tells Us Weekly.
âSheâs helping him connect with some producers sheâs worked with in the past,â the source reveals. âShe definitely wants him to utilize her old relationships so heâs protected and guided through this.â
Jayden, 19, has played the piano since he was a child but is currently focused on production and making beats, some of which he has shared in since-deleted posts on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
Jayden once cited his Grammy-winning mom as his biggest musical influence, though he admittedly did not understand the magnitude of her global fame until he got older. (Jayden was only 9 when Spears released her most recent album, 2016âs Glory.)
âThere was this TV, and it just showed all these people, and it showed her singing and dancing on the stage, and when I saw that, I was like âWow, that is a lot of people,ââ Jayden recalled to the Daily Mail in 2022 in his only interview to date. âI came to the realization of how famous she was and how successful she is as a person, and that inspired me.â
Spears, 44, has repeatedly stated that she âretiredâ from her illustrious music career after the 2021 termination of her controversial 13-year conservatorship, but she teased in an Instagram post on January 8 that she might perform with Jayden in the U.K. and Australia âvery soon.â (Spears also declared that she âwill never perform in the U.S. again,â which a second insider blames on past âtrauma,â explaining, âShe has no interest in working like that again in that capacity.â)
Us understands that Spears does not actually have any concerts in the works, but she has not completely sworn off the industry either: The first source shares that the Princess of Pop âhas said sheâd be open to collaborating with Jayden, but itâs still a very early idea.â The second insider adds, âJayden has been staying with her in L.A. recently so they can work together. He basically lives with her full-time now.â
Us Weekly has reached out to Spearsâ rep for comment.
Spears and Jayden were once estranged, but they reunited in 2024 after he returned home to California from Hawaii. (Jayden and his brother, Sean Preston, 20, moved to the Aloha State with their father, Kevin Federline, and half-siblings in 2023. Spears and Federline, 47, were married from 2004 to 2007.)
â[Jayden] always knew theyâd find their way back to each other eventually, but heâs grateful that it happened sooner than later,â a source exclusively told Us last year. âBritney and Jayden have had a close bond since he was very young, so slowly getting into their old groove has felt special and [healing for] both of them.â
More recently, Britney and Jayden spent Christmas together while Preston â who has had his own ups and downs with his mother â celebrated the holiday at his aunt Jamie Lynn Spearsâ house in Louisiana.
âBritney was really hurt that Preston didnât spend Christmas with her and Jayden, but he chose not to,â an insider told Us. âShe tried to convince him, but he wasnât ready to meet her halfway.â
Nonetheless, the source stressed that Britney and Preston are âboth very committedâ to âmaking strides with healing their relationship.â
