Bridget Fonda looks worlds away from ’90s stardom in slimming black ensemble

Bridget Fonda turned heads as she stepped out in Los Angeles to run errands with friends, looking so laid-back as she showcased her incredible figure.

The 62-year-old wore a casual ensemble consisting of loose black trousers, a black tee and a white button-up shirt over the top, paired with a large black handbag and white sneakers. Her gray tresses were pulled back into a neat ponytail, and she completed the look with tinted glasses. 

Bridget’s battle with self-esteem

Bridget was once one of the most in-demand actresses of the ’90s, thanks to her performances in The Godfather III, Scandal, Single White Female, and In the Gloaming. 

The star, who has lost a reported 100 lbs on her weight-loss journey, has been open in the past about her body image struggles and previously shared her frustrations with The Los Angeles Times.

“What is it with my low self-esteem?” she began. 

“Sometimes I feel like I can make myself look the way that I’m happy with, but I get really depressed if I think of the big picture or compare myself to movie stars who are supposed to look like Veronica Lake or Lauren Bacall. Like you’ve got to be a model. It’s a weird pressure.”

“I have this fear that I’m going to be lax in my struggle to better myself. I got that from Mom,” Bridget continued. “She always said, ‘You’re not doing enough, you’re not working hard enough.'”

She added: “I’m sort of trying to be happy with my career. I think I should give myself a break, but I’ve got this bug that rides me. You know, you should be doing better. So every time I work, I’m frustrated with my physical inability to catch up to my mental picture.”

Bridget hails from the incredibly famous Fonda family, with her grandfather being The Grapes of Wrath star Henry Fonda, her aunt being two-time Oscar winner Jane Fonda, and her father being Easy Rider actor Peter Fonda.

“To my father, acting was everything. It was escape; it was therapy,” Peter told The New York Times.

“Bridget isn’t like that. It’s not compulsive; it’s not out of fear. With her, it’s basically about packing in as many good films as she can, while she can. She just knows what she wants.” 

Bridget didn’t try to separate herself from her famous family when she embarked on her Hollywood career. “I try not to think of it because it can weigh up on you,” she told Bobbie Wygant of her family’s legacy.

“I found in school that came up in my mind, and it started to become daunting.”

“I’m proud of my family,” she added. “And I hope that I’ll do something that can stand out the way that the films my dad and my aunt and my grandfather did…I’ve got a ways to go; hopefully I’ll be working for a long time.”
