The ultimate Valentine’s Day surprise went down on the Friday, Feb. 14 episode of Good Morning America.
Couple Daniel Alexandre and Chaseedaw Giles were pulled off the street in Times Square and into the GMA studios where Alexandre popped the question to his girlfriend of more than two years.
“This is my girlfriend who I’ve known for a very long time. I love her very much,” Alexandre said of Giles, before addressing her, “Since the day I met you, it’s been an adventure and I’ve learned so much. It’s a story I never want to end. And so, I just wanted to ask you, Chaseedaw Giles, will you marry me?”
Giles was overcome by the surprise, bursting into tears and declaring, “Oh my gosh, I have, like, snot coming out of my nose!” before accepting the proposal.
ABC’s Sam Champion then broke the shocking news that not only was GMA hosting their proposal but also their wedding.
“An engagement on GMA would be one thing, but we’re going to get married in 45 minutes,” Champion told the shocked bride, adding, “I promise it’s going to be your dream wedding. I promise it is.”

Co-anchor Michael Strahan later introduced the bride in her her wedding dress, to which her groom said, “Wow … You look amazing.”
“You look so good” Giles added to Alexandre.
The Boston-based musicians, who met in Los Angeles in 2022 and formed the group Black From Home, were then once again surprised as their family and friends appeared to attend their impromptu nuptials.
Giles wept as she walked down the aisle after her brother surprised her to be by her side. And though she had no time to prepare her own vows, the bride spoke off the cuff, sharing some insight into the couple’s love story.
“You just make me feel so comfortable,” she told her groom. “From the moment we met, the first time we met, I fell asleep on your couch because — and I would never do that because I didn’t know you — but I felt really comfortable with you and you just felt like home. I felt like I knew you forever and I don’t know, I feel like I can be myself with you and we have so much fun together. I just feel like I’m with my best friend all the time.”
Champion officiated the wedding for the couple, officially declaring them man and wife live on the air.
The ABC morning show didn’t stop the surprises there. They also gifted the newlyweds with a honeymoon to the Cayman Islands followed by a first dance song from Montell Jordan, who performed a personalized version of his hit “This Is How We Do It” for the couple and their loved ones.
As the bride put it, “Is this real?”
