Hilary Duff and sister Haylie Duff have been battling — and sometimes avoiding — feud rumors for years.
The Texas-born siblings grew up in the spotlight side-by-side after moving to Los Angeles with their mom in 1993.
Hilary landed her first major role as Wendy in 1998’s Casper Meets Wendy, going on to star in Disney Channel’s Lizzie McGuire, A Cinderella Story, Cheaper by the Dozen, Younger, How I Met Your Father and more. Simultaneously, she solidified her pop star status in 2002 with her Santa Claus Lane album, followed by 2003’s Metamorphosis and three more albums. (She announced her return to music after a decade with her album Luck … or Something in February 2026.)
Meanwhile, Haylie became known for her roles in 7th Heaven, Lizzie McGuire and Napoleon Dynamite, as well as her own cooking show, The Real Girl’s Kitchen. The actress and her younger sister collaborated on a handful of occasions in the 2000s, including the 2006 film Material Girls and their 2004 hit “Our Lips Are Sealed.”
Though Hilary and Haylie once seemed close, they appeared to stop spending time together around 2019, leaving fans to wonder what happened between them.

When Did Hilary and Haylie Duff’s Alleged Feud Begin?
Hilary and Haylie were last photographed in public together in 2019, according to multiple reports. Additionally, they have seemingly stopped interacting with each other on social media. Rumors swirled in 2019 that Haylie skipped Hilary’s wedding to Matthew Koma, but various reports at the time claimed that she did attend the nuptials.
In 2024, DeuxMoi claimed that Hilary and Haylie had a falling out over Koma and how he didn’t get along with Haylie’s fiancé, Matthew Rosenberg.
Haylie Duff Looks Back on Filming Movies With Hilary Duff
During a May 2025 red carpet appearance, Haylie reflected on her early career and working with Hilary on Material Girls, as well as providing vocals for The Lizzie McGuire Movie.
“Yes, I was. You mean, 20 years ago?” she told Entertainment Tonight of singing for the character Isabelle, played by Hilary along with main character Lizzie in the film. “Maybe one day, [my daughter Ryan] will sit and watch Material Girls and get a kick out of that.”
Hilary Duff Hints at ‘Family Drama’
Hilary hinted at alleged “family drama” in a November 2025 interview with Rolling Stone, revealing that she planned to unpack things in her upcoming music.
“I’m ready to fill in the blanks and share with people and connect with them on the level of now,” she told the outlet. “My fans have gone through a lot of the same things, whether that’s complicated relationships, anxiety, raising kids, divorces, trying to find yourself in adulthood [or] family drama.”
Hilary did not get into any specifics.
Haylie Duff ‘Likes’ Ashley Tisdale’s ‘Toxic Mom Group’ Story
Hilary made headlines in early January 2026 when Ashley Tisdale published an essay for The Cut about leaving her “toxic mom group” behind. Though Tisdale did not name anyone in the essay, she was previously known to spend time with a mom group that included Hilary, as well as Mandy Moore and Meghan Trainor.
Haylie appeared to side with Tisdale in the drama when she “liked” the Disney Channel alum’s Instagram post promoting the story.
Hilary Duff Performs New Song Seemingly About Haylie Duff
During her January 2026 concert in London as part of her Small Rooms, Big Nerves tour, Hilary debuted her song “We Dont Talk,” which fans believe is about Haylie.
“Don’t know when it happened / Not even sure what it was about,” she sang. “’Cause we come from the same home, same blood.”
In the chorus, Hilary sings, “People ask me how you’re doing / I wanna say amazing, but the truth is that I don’t know / What I always end up saying is how … We don’t talk, we don’t talk about it / We don’t talk about anything anymore.”
Hilary also alluded to what may have happened between her and Haylie in one verse.
“And if it’s ’cause you’re jealous / God knows I would sell it all, then break you off the bigger half. … Let’s have it out / I’ll hear you out, you’ll hear me out on the couch / Get back to how we were as kids / Let’s break it down / So sick of being so sad about / How we don’t talk and you won’t talk about it.”
Haylie has yet to address Hilary’s new song or her alleged feud with her sister.
