Christine Chiu is experiencing unexpected hair loss.
In a post shared on social media on Tuesday, March 18, the Bling Empire star, 42, revealed she’s undergoing testing to find the cause of the “dramatic” change.
“My first custom wig fitting,” Chiu wrote over a video of herself sitting in a salon chair having a wig placed over her scalp.
“For those who don’t know … i am experiencing sudden and dramatic hair loss – and have lost 99% of my hair over the last few months,” she added to the Instagram Story.
Chiu disclosed that she’s currently doing all she can to find out what’s going on, including “running labs, ultrasounds [and] tests.”
Reps for Chiu did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
The philanthropist tagged stylist Maranda Widlund in the clip.
As Chiu sits filming the consultation, Widlund can be heard explaining why she went for “a dark, dark brown” instead of black for her client’s waist-length wig.
“And then, when it gets styled, it just has a lot of life in it,” the hairdresser adds as she gives Chiu a glimpse of what the product can do.
Though she addressed the medical mystery on her Instagram Stories, the Taiwanese-American reality star did not seem to make mention of her health anywhere else on her profile.
Earlier this week, Chiu shared a recap of herself spending time at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, Calif.
In the pictures, the businesswoman wore a white Chanel tennis outfit, as the luxury brand was an event partner.
Chiu also wore a white Chanel cap that covered most of her hair, which appeared short in photos.
“Trying to ace the day, but mostly just rallying between champagne and shade 🎾🍾 (and sushi!),” she captioned an Instagram carousel.
“Which sport must be enjoyed in person?” she asked at the end of her caption.
Chiu’s husband, Gabriel Chiu, and their young son, Gabriel Chiu III, also appeared in the photo recap.
“Our first tennis match together,” was written over one of the photos of the mother and her son.
While attending the Gold Gala last summer, Chiu told PEOPLE her son Gabriel aka “Baby G,” was “obsessed with Pokémon.”

She also noted they’d recently gone to Japan “to track down” the characters.
During the interview, the entrepreneur also addressed longstanding rumors that she almost was a diamond holder on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
“I actually got the contract for it,” Chiu told PEOPLE of almost being on season 5 of the Bravo reality series in 2014.
“At that time, somebody on my father’s side passed away, and then my dog was on the verge of passing away, so emotionally I don’t think I was quite ready,” she said, also adding that Gabriel’s family “was very much against reality TV” at that time.
Chiu went on to star in Netflix’s Bling Empire for from 2021 through 2022 before the show was canceled. She also competed on Dancing With the Stars.
