These days, Billy Bob Thornton has become best known for his role as Tommy Norris on Landman.
However, there was a time when he was best known for his headline-making relationship with Angelina Jolie, who is 20 years his senior, and moreover, the infamous vials they had of each otherâs blood.
The infamous pop-culture moment left an impression on many, among them his 28-year-old current co-star Michelle Randolph.
Michelle, who stars as Billy Bobâs Landman character Tommyâs daughter Ainsley Norris, speaking with Drew Barrymore on The Drew Barrymore Show this week, confessed that upon getting cast as Billy Bobâs on-screen daughter on the Taylor Sheridan hit, all she knew about him was the notorious blood vial moment.
Recalling their first days on set, she said: âMost of my scenes are with him, and Iâm thinking, âGod, like what, all I know is that he drank Angelina Jolieâs blood or something,'â revealing that she has since asked him about it.
Though Michelle didnât share what answer she got from Billy Bob, she did say of him: âHe just, I mean, heâs just ease,â adding: âIf ease was a person, thatâs who he is.
âShe further gushed: âThatâs why heâs so good at what he does. You think someone with his rĂ©sumĂ© is going to be so intimidating, but instead, heâs such a great actor because he pulls honesty out of you and he settles you in a scene and in life.â
âI tend to talk a lot and move fast and he just makes me want to just chill,â she emphasized.Â
Billy Bobâs relationship with Angelina
After dating for two months, Angelina and Billy Bob got married on May 5, 2000, a month shy of her 25th birthday. Their many displays of affection drew constant attention from the media, though arguably none more than when they wore vials allegedly filled with each otherâs blood, which they supposedly drank.
Addressing the infamous blood dials in a November 2025 interview with Rolling Stone, he said they ânever existed,â explaining: âWe each had a little locket, literally with a drop of blood in them. Thatâs a romantic little idea, and thatâs all that was. But by the time itâs over, weâre vampires. We live in a dungeon, we drink each otherâs blood, and this kind of stuff.â
Angelina and Billy Bob adopted her son Maddox from Cambodia in March 2002, but separated three months later, finalizing their divorce in May 2003.
They nonetheless remain close friends, with Billy Bob also telling Rolling Stone: âAngelina and I had a great time together. That was one of the greatest times of my life. She and I are still very, very close friends. And that was the one that ended up being a really civilized break-up. We simply split up because our lifestyles were so different.â
