They’re purring for him to run!

Greece is known for having cats walk its streets — and now the country wants a Cats for president?

The third-largest political party in the European Union nation has asked Greek-born New York supermarket mogul John Catsimatidis to run for president, we hear.

They even called him up at 3 a.m. to ask him.

While the owner of 77 WABC radio was flattered, he’s more likely to run for mayor of NYC.

“I’m an American,” he told us. “I came here at 6 months old,” jokingly adding, “I can be president of Greece, but I can’t be president of the United States.”

He confirmed, “I got a call from the third-largest political party [in Greece] that wants to nominate me to be president of Greece.” He quipped, “I’m honored, but I’m busy enough in New York!”

We reported last month that the chairmen of the Republican Party chapters in all five boroughs said they’d choose Catsimatidis as the GOP candidate if the legally embattled Mayor Eric Adams is ousted and the city holds a special election ahead of the regularly scheduled election next year.

(If you’re not familiar with Greek politics, the current prez is progressive pol Katerina Sakellaropoulou, whose term is up in 2025.)

Cats said of a mayoral run: “I am digesting it . . . I want New York City to do well . . . We just want to have the city make a comeback.”

The Gristedes mogul added frankly: “You know what I’m most scared of? I might win.”

This week, Cats was invited by Donald Trump to watch the Election Day returns at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Fla.

But the billionaire was busy broadcasting from WABC radio till 6 a.m.

“I was at WABC doing a national broadcast,” he said. “We had 100 people in studio all night long.” The broadcast included Rita Cosby, Bill O’Reilly, ex-Gov. David Paterson, Curtis Sliwa, Anthony Weiner and NY state GOP chair Ed Cox.
