There’s no greater Christmas gift than Beyoncé’s halftime performance — and the special guests who joined her.
On Wednesday, Dec. 25, the superstar took the stage during the Ravens-Texans game in her hometown of Houston, Texas, for a breathtaking performance deemed “Beyoncé Bowl.” She entered on a horse, wearing a white-feathered gown and western hat and opened with “16 Carriages.”
As she got off the horse and walked through the back of the stadium, the star donned a red, white and blue “Cowboy Carter” sash to sing her cover of “Blackbird.” Suddenly, Beyoncé appeared at the center of the field in a bedazzled bodysuit and chaps as she performed “Ya Ya.”
Lights spelling out “My House” then projected onto the stands, making the crowd go wild, as Beyoncé marched to “Riverdance.” She walked across the marching band-lined field, where she was met with Shaboozey, who is featured on her song “Sweet Honey Buckiin.”
The star-studded event continued with Post Malone singing “Levii’s Jeans” before Beyoncé hopped on the back of a vintage truck to sing “Jolene.”
She closed with her hit song “Texas Hold ‘Em” and soon was joined by 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy, who she referenced in a discreet lyric change when she sang: “Then spin me in the middle, Blue, I can’t read your mind.” The mother-daughter duo did an elaborate line dance before Beyoncé floated up on a platform, which dawned a banner that read “BANG.”
The performance was part of Netflix’s first-ever NFL Christmas Gameday, Under its agreement with the NFL, the Ravens-Texans game, as well as the Chiefs-Steelers game, will be available to watch until three hours after the livestream ends. Therefore, the Ravens-Texans game will expire around 11 p.m. ET.
The Christmas performance marked the live debut of songs from Beyoncé’s latest studio album Cowboy Carter, which also features Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and more.
The “CUFF IT” singer first announced she was performing at the football game in November in a video shared on Instagram.
Backed by an a cappella version of her Cowboy Carter opener, “AMERIICAN REQUIEM,” Beyoncé stood in front of a microphone on top of a vintage car decorated with red roses, before a spotlight shined on her.
Then, a football was thrown to her and the video panned to a close-up shot of the musician, wearing patriotic attire and a white cowboy hat. A title card then shared more info about the upcoming performance.
