Ben Fogle was supported by his followers on Wednesday as the popular presenter confirmed the death of Dina Zughyar, who had previously featured in his Channel 5 series, New Lives in the Wild back in 2019.
Alongside a picture of Ben with Dina and her partner, Mostafa, the TV star shared: âSome sad New Lives in the Wild news, Dina Zughyar has sadly passed away. I visited Dina and her partner Mostafa who had moved from the US to the Atlas Mountains in Morocco in 2018.
âThe couple abandoned their multi million dollar wealth and embraced a new simple sustainable life in North Africa where they build a simple adobe home and lived hand to mouth. Tired of chasing wealth and success in the material world she spent her final years chasing happiness and freedom, surrounded by her beloved animals in Morocco.â
He finished the message by saying: âMy thoughts are with Mostafa and her family. Farewell Dina.â Ben then added a heart emoji to the end of the post.
Benâs followers were quick to offer their condolences, as one said: âI watched her episode just a few weeks ago, rest in peace brave woman,â while a second added: âSo sorry to hear this sad news. You must feel it too as you get to meet these wonderful people. Very sad.â
A third penned: âOh no, how very sad. Sending condolences to her lovely partner. RIP Dina,â and a fourth commented: âI am so sad. Watched and was admired. They were a great looking couple. She was a woman with a big smile, full of life. May she rest in peace.â
Ben Fogleâs New Lives in the Wild has been airing on Channel 5 since 2013, racking up an impressive 21 seasons, with the current one still airing. In the show, Ben travels around the world meeting people who have given up civilisation and chosen to reside in more remote areas around the globe, including in outer Mongolia and north-east Siberia.
Family life
Ben wrapped filming for the latest series of his show back in September, and at the time, he wrote about how happy he was to return to his wife, Marina Fogle, and their two children, Ludo and Iona.
Posing on the Great Wall of China, the father-of-two shared: âIâve reached the end of an extraordinary journey across one of the most secretive places in the world⊠Now back to spend time with my precious familyâŠâ
While itâs unclear whether his teenage children will follow in his footsteps, the pair do share Benâs love of the outside. He previously explained: âMy sonâs like me in that he loves the outdoors, whether itâs in the sunshine or rain, but he doesnât have the shyness I suffered from as a child.
âMy daughter is more like my wife as sheâs relaxed and chilled but definitely knows what she wants.â
