Negativity isn’t going to bring Bebe Rexha down.

After a clip of the “I’m Good (Blue)” singer reacting to a body-shaming comment during a recent Instagram Live stream went viral this week, she responded on Thursday, Feb. 27, telling fans she’s “unbothered” by the online conversation.

While in Dubai for a charity performance, Rexha, 35, went live on Instagram and read comments from viewers aloud — including one which said she looks “like Marilyn Monroe after she ate Lizzo.”

Other people in the room could be heard gasping after she read the comment, and the Grammy-nominated star added, “Honestly, who cares? That’s a f—in’ hater, like, who’s bored with their life.”

A screen recording from the live stream quickly spread online, prompting Rexha to respond with a front-facing video shared to Instagram Stories. “I just got back from Dubai. I did an amazing charity event. It was so beautiful,” she said, noting that it’d been a “very long time” since her last live chat.

“I get back last night, my friends are like, ‘Have you seen the clip that’s going viral?’ So I go look at the clip, read the comments because I’m nosy,” she explained. “You guys were very nice to me and supportive of me. But I want to say a couple of things.”

“Number one, I am unbothered. Number two, I’m very aware of everything. I know I gained weight. I know that I’ve been through a lot. I know that people know my songs but don’t know me, and I haven’t gotten the recognition I’ve deserved,” continued Rexha.

“But instead of letting that all break me down, it’s actually made me feel more powerful,” she declared. “I’ve been working on new music, and I’ve been putting it into my music.”

Rexha ended the clip by telling fans she doesn’t want them to “feel bad” for her. “I promise you I feel stronger than ever,” she said. “And I love you.”

In a May 2024 interview with PEOPLE, the “Meant to Be” performer opened up about feeling “confident” and “comfortable” as she entered a “new chapter” of music.

“I’ve gone through so much in the past X amount of years that people don’t know about, and I feel like I finally have now come to peace with a lot of things. I finally feel excited and alive,” she said.

At the time, Rexha also spoke about undergoing “a lot of therapy” following a breakup and working on her physical fitness. “I’ve been working out a lot and trying to do things that are better for me, things that make me happy,” she said.

“You feel so much sexier and better when clothes fit better, and you just feel happier,” added Rexha, who was photographed cozying up with boyfriend Simos Liakos during an August 2024 trip to Italy.
