Beaming Prince Harry looked relaxed and comfortable as he appeared at an event on Wednesday, the day the news broke about his return to the UK. The Duke was in good spirits as he chatted with The Associated Press after a roundtable about support for veterans in Washington DC.Â
The Prince was wearing a navy suit paired with a navy and burgundy tie â a smart look weâve seen him sport before. A small Union Jack flag was seen in front of the royal as he chatted away â the perfect symbolism for his homecoming.
MEXIT U-Turn
Six years after leaving the UK, the Sussexes are moving back to Britain later this month, with plans already in place for their children, Prince Archie, seven, and five-year-old Princess Lilibet to begin school when term starts in September.
While the plans to move back across the pond would have taken quite some time, HELLO! understands King Charles was first made aware of these plans on Sunday, August 16, 2026, and that although he is pleased he will have more opportunity to see his son and grandchildren, there will be no alterations to Harry or Meghanâs status within the royal family in accordance with previous decisions.
The couple have already given up their UK residence, Frogmore Cottage, so they will be seeking alternative accommodation in Britain. It is thought they will maintain their home in Montecito, California, but will establish âa private, non-royal home base in Britainâ outside of London. They also already have a vacation home in Portugal.Â
Harryâs veteran supportÂ
After Prince Harryâs time in the military he has been keen to support veterans in many ways, one notable one being his own Invictus Games. The Duke founded the Invictus Games in London in 2014. The competition aims to challenge âperceptions of disability, champion adaptive sport, and demonstrate the resilience, determination and unconquered spirit of wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans,â according to a release from the Foundation.Â
Invictus is coming to Birmingham next year so it will be perfect timing for the Prince to be back on home soil. He was in the UK for the one-year-to-go event.Â
