BBC News star Anna Collinson has announced the joyful news she is pregnant on Wednesday.
The Investigative Journalist has had fertility struggles for four years which has included two rounds of IVF and two miscarriages.
Sharing the news on Instagram, Anna was incredibly considerate of those who could have been in the same position and may find the update a hard post to see.
“I’m excited to finally share that I’m pregnant,” wrote the mother-to-be.
“I also know that for anyone struggling to have a baby, seeing happy pregnancy announcements on social media can be hard, so I want to be honest. Getting to this point has taken my husband and me four long years. During that time, I experienced two miscarriages and we went through two rounds of IVF,” Anna shared.
Talking about her fertility struggles, Anna said that the journey can feel “incredibly isolating” and noted the “psychological drain” and “physical toll” it can take on parents to be.
“Fertility problems can be incredibly isolating. There’s the physical toll, of course, but too often the psychological drain is underestimated. I think I found the waiting one of the hardest parts; waiting for appointments, waiting for results and waiting for an outcome you have no real control over and which may never materialise.
Anna continued: “It can at times feel unfair and cruel, like your life is on hold while everyone around you is moving forward without you. You then feel so guilty for feeling anything other than happiness when someone else announces their exciting news.
“I’m so grateful to everyone who supported us through this time. I couldn’t have got through it without my safe spaces where I could be truly honest, vent, cry and even laugh.”
Anna concluded: “My thoughts are with anyone currently navigating their own fertility journey. I know sharing my experience won’t make things easier, but I hope it might help you feel a little less alone or a little more understood. Today, I feel incredibly lucky. I don’t take that for granted.”
Beaming with joy
In the photograph, Anna looked happier than ever, wearing a blue, bump-skimming sleeveless dress, accessorised with a chunk gold chain.
Sher wore her brilliant blonde tresses up, with beautiful tresses framing her face, which appears to be taken from her baby shower.
The update also included photos of Anna amid treatment, showing her in a hospital gown, entering an embryo transfer room, as well as images of her positive pregnancy test and a beautiful photo of her in a fabulous bump-framing white mini dress while at the BBC studios.
Followers of the BBC star rushed to the comments with messages. “Hugest congratulations. As someone who’s had lots of IVF I know how tough a journey it can be xx,” one wrote.
A second added: “Gorgeous news Anna so sorry it’s been rough. I’ve experienced some of that and it’s brutal. That baby is a lucky one to have you two! Xx.”
Meanwhile, a third added: “This is a poignant post Anna. Many congratulations and much love to you both [red love heart emoji].”
