The in memoriam portion of the Oscars proved to be the major tearjerker we anticipated it to be.
Among the most heart-wrenching, but brilliant moments? Barbra Streisand‘s tribute to her late, great The Way We Were co-star Robert Redford, who passed away aged 89 on September 16, 2025.
She honored the All the President’s Men actor by describing him as a “brilliant,” subtle actor.”
“Bob had a real backbone, on and off the screen,” she said, recalling how the Sundance Institute founder, an “intellectual cowboy,” she said, initially found Hubbell to have none.
Barbra concluded her heartwarming tribute with a brief but stunning performance of “The Way We Were,” her first performance since 2019.
