During the premiere of American Idol season 23 March 10, Backstreet Boys Brian Littrell joined son Baylee Littrell for his audition—which left Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie stunned
After the 22-year-old sang an original song on his guitar, the superstar judges urged him to invite Brian into the room to perform with him. The father-son duo then sang the chorus of Baylee’s original together.
“For your superstar singer dad to come in here, I feel like for anybody else, it would make you look bad,” Carrie said after their performance. “But it didn’t. You were right there with him. You didn’t pale, you didn’t shy away. You were like, ‘This is my moment.’”
Baylee gave his dad credit for getting him into music and passing down some of his talents.
“I believe I get my voice from Dad, and hopefully I can do him justice today,” he said on the show. “I guess you can say music runs in our family. Dance moves-wise, that’s the one thing genetically that did not pass down.”
