Authorities have discovered a possible piece of evidence after they expanded their search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show star Savannah Guthrie, following her disappearance on February 1.Â
The FBI shared an update on X on Wednesday, detailing that they were searching the roadways near Nancyâs home in Tucson, Arizona, and asking passersby to be aware of the operation. âThis morning, numerous FBI agents are conducting an extensive search along multiple roadways in the Catalina Foothills area related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation,â the post read.Â
âWe are asking the media and motorists to follow all traffic laws and to remain cautious when passing law enforcement personnel near the roadways.âÂ
Authorities have also continued their search in the neighborhood of Nancyâs daughter, Annie Guthrie, who lives just four miles away with her husband, Tomasso Cioni.Â
The news comes  a day after footage was released by the FBI of an individual outside Nancyâs home in the early hours of February 1, around the time that she was believed to have been taken. The armed individual wore a ski mask, black gloves and a large backpack and attempted to disarm her doorbell camera.Â
According to The New York Post, a single black glove similar to the masked manâs glove was found in the shrubbery, approximately one and a half miles away from Nancyâs home.Â
Hours after the doorbell footage was released, a person of interest was detained for questioning in Rio Rico, a town an hourâs drive from Nancyâs house.Â
