A woman pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in her 3-year-old nephew’s death after prosecutors said she killed the boy by shoving him off Chicago’s Navy Pier and into Lake Michigan.
Victoria Moreno , 38, allegedly watched Josiah Bell Brown sink after pushing him into the lake on September 19, 2022, the Chicago-Sun Times reported. The boy, who was rescued by divers nearly 30 minutes later, spent six days in critical condition at a hospital, where he died.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office conducted an autopsy on the boy, which determined he died as a result of complications from drowning. His death was ruled a homicide.
