Aubrey Plaza speaks out on ‘exciting’ pregnancy news for first time

Aubrey Plaza is ready to step into her new role as a mom.

The “Parks and Recreation” alum — who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Christopher Abbott — said she broke the pregnancy news to Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett on a forthcoming episode of their “Smartless” podcast.

“Well, there’s a baby inside of me,” she told the men, who all responded in disbelief. “No, I said there is a baby inside of me right now.”

After the actors told Plaza, 41, they were so “excited” for her, she revealed she went to the doctor for an ultrasound that day.

“Today was a big day. I went to the doctor’s today, and my dog also went to the doctor’s. And both of us — my dog’s getting a scan right now. I got a scan earlier. I’m not kidding,” she shared.

“She had to get an ultrasound on her stomach. And then I got an ultrasound on my stomach, and there is a baby in there,” Plaza added.

When asked if she was “excited” about becoming a first-time mom, the actress replied, “I am. Yeah. I’ve always wanted, I’ve always wanted, I’ve always wanted to see what that’s all about, you know?

“It just seems so interesting, that whole thing,” she added.

Last week, news surfaced that Plaza was pregnant and expecting her first child with Abbott — more than one year after her husband, Jeff Baena, died by suicide in January 2025.

“It was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,” a source told People. “They feel very blessed.”

It’s unclear when Plaza and Abbott began dating. The couple has worked together multiple times, including in the 2020 movie “Black Bear” and in the 2023 to 2024 off-Broadway revival of “Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.”

Though the “White Lotus” actress hid her baby bump while attending Paris Fashion Week last month, she had her belly on full display while walking her dog in New York City last Wednesday.

Plaza dressed casually for the outing, wearing a blue coat, a burgundy shirt, gray sweatpants, sneakers and a pair of black sunglasses.
