Ashlyn Harris revealed she asked ex Ali Krieger for an “open marriage” in a desperate attempt to save their relationship before calling it quits.

The former soccer player got candid about the end of her nearly four-year marriage with Krieger in 2023 during an episode of the “Naked Sports” podcast on Monday.

“I started trying all these things, like, let’s do an open marriage,” she said. “That was like, my last attempt of, you know, if I’m not getting what I want and we want to keep this together.”

Harris, however, quickly realized the idea of a polyamorous relationship wasn’t what she wanted.

“I’m like, that’s just not even me, dude,” she continued.

The retired athlete, 39, admitted she got “very good at disassociating” from her relationship and her “ability to sit and suffer” for the sake of other people helped her stay in her marriage for as long as she did.

Elsewhere in the episode, Harris alleged that she and Krieger, 40, weren’t “intimate the entire part” of their union

“I felt so embarrassed and I felt so much shame that I didn’t know how to tell people that, like, oh, ‘My wife doesn’t want to touch me or doesn’t want to be intimate or doesn’t want this,’” the Former USWNT goalie said.

“I just felt like I wasn’t a priority,” she continued. “I didn’t feel that sense of connection, whether emotional or physical. It was soccer, job, kids, and then somewhere down the line it was like, ‘OK, what about me?’”

Harris furthered that the lack of love she felt from Krieger led to their relationship ending in 2023, despite rumors that she cheated on her ex with now girlfriend Sophia Bush.

“I’m constantly pegged as a cheater, which that is so far from the truth and she knows it,” she said about Krieger. “And it torched me.”

Harris explained that she and Krieger had been living separately for months before Page Six exclusively revealed that she filed for divorce in October 2023, citing their relationship as “irretrievably broken.”

That same month, Page Six confirmed that Harris and the “One Tree Hill” star, 49, were an item and the two have been going strong since. Krieger announced in July she’s dating someone new.

Harris and Krieger, meanwhile, started dating in 2010 when they played on the same US Women’s National Soccer Team.

The exes tied the knot in 2019 and welcomed daughter Sloane, 3, and son Ocean, 2, while married.

Reps for Krieger weren’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.
