An Arizona pizza slinger will spend the rest of his life behind bars for killing a coworker he thought was moving in on his crush.

Tyler Ross McGuire will never walk freely again, after the 31-year-old pizza shop manager received his mandatory life sentence earlier this month for the premeditated 2023 ambush killing of perceived romantic rival Deazo Seghi.

Court documents provided to Us Weekly claim Seghi, 22, worked at Rounder’s Pizza in Mesa, where McGuire was the manager.

The two men also worked with a woman, who has not been named. Her age was also not provided.

Prosecutors had argued in court filings that McGuire had become “fixated” on the female employee and even became an HR nightmare when he “told the woman he had a crush on her.” Prosecutors claimed that “she made it clear” to her boss “she was not interested.”

Later that same month, “McGuire physical[ly] confronted the victim, believing he was also pursuing a relationship with the woman.”

Police claim a Wisconsin man charged with murdering his girlfriend allegedly told investigators she had asked him to shoot her in the forehead, Us Weekly has learned. Lance Devon White, 29, was charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide for killing Alicia Machnik, also 29, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by Us […]

Prosecutors said that McGuire spent the next year growing increasingly angry with Seghi, and in time, he “purchased a gun and searched for the victim’s address.”

On December 11, 2023, Seghi was found dead inside his vehicle, parked in front of the apartment complex he lived in. “According to witnesses, McGuire approached the vehicle and shot the victim multiple times in the chest” and neck “before running away,” according to a statement from prosecutors.

Court documents confirm witnesses told police that they saw a man wearing a dark-colored hoodie fire shots into the vehicle before reaching in and taking something out of the car. It was unclear what, if anything, was taken from the vehicle.

At the time of his arrest, McGuire had a cell phone and a black handgun which he used to carry out the revenge killing. The bullets inside the gun matched the bullet casings found outside Seghi’s car. He demanded an attorney as the handcuffs were clicking around his wrists.

“Days after his arrest, the defendant’s mother contacted police about a diary belonging to the defendant,” reads a statement from the prosecution. “Entries in the diary detailed the defendant’s plan to kill the victim and his reasoning for doing so. A diary entry stated, ‘I decided a while ago I needed to kill someone. This person hurt me.’ Another entry stated, ‘If I had my way, I’d be with her. Although that opportunity was stolen from me.”

A 16-year-old boy in Arizona died 10 days after he was allegedly shot by his girlfriend’s stepbrother while the teen was at her family’s home to make Christmas cookies. Gilbert Police said that the teenager died on Tuesday, December 23, after he was allegedly shot by his girlfriend’s stepbrother, Rael Sanchez, while spending time at […]

It was unclear why McGuire believed his workers were romantically involved, and authorities have never actually said if they were able to determine if Seghi and the female worker ever had a workplace romance.

“This defendant carried out a planned and unprovoked killing, leaving a family to endure an unimaginable loss,” County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said in a statement on the case. “This sentence delivers justice for the victim and affirms that this level of violence will be met with the strongest consequences under the law.”

The sentence was handed down earlier this month, after a jury found McGuire guilty on one count of first-degree murder in Seghi’s death in November 2025.
