Ariana Grande knows her angles.

At the Tuesday, Dec. 10 Academy Women’s Luncheon in Los Angeles, the singer and Wicked star, 31, had a funny exchange with photographers on the red carpet.

In a video captured by Bustle, Grande poses with one foot extended in front of the other. She asks the photographers, “Is this a good place for my toe?” and then jokes, “I’ve committed to this pose,” as onlookers laugh.

After she moves down the line to another photographer, Grande asks, “Would you like something different?” A voice off-camera says “No, that’s good,” and she continues posing.

For the event, which was presented by Chanel, Grande wore a sparkly structured minidress with a plunging neckline. She added a pair of black tights, black pointed-toe pumps and a black ribbon in her blonde hair, which was pulled back into a sleek updo.

Per a press release, the Academy Women’s Luncheon brought together “women from all facets of the filmmaking community” to celebrate the Academy Gold Fellowship for Women, a program that supports emerging women filmmakers.

On Monday Dec. 9, it was announced that Grande’s role as Glinda in Wicked earned her a Golden Globe nomination. The star was nominated for performance by a female actor in a supporting role.

“It’s hard to protect yourself from that noise,” she said. “It’s something that is uncomfortable no matter what scale you’re experiencing it on, even if you go to Thanksgiving dinner and someone’s granny says ‘Oh my god you look skinnier, what happened?’ or ‘you look heavier what happened?'”

The star added she relies on her family and friends for support.

“I’m really lucky to have the support system that I have and to just know and trust that I’m beautiful. But I do know what the pressure of that noise feels like,” she explained. “It’s been a resident in my life since I was 17. I just don’t invite it in anymore. I have work to do, I have a life to live, I have friends to love on. I have so much love. It’s not invited, so I don’t leave space for it anymore.”
