Ariana Grande knows her angles.
At the Tuesday, Dec. 10 Academy Womenâs Luncheon in Los Angeles, the singer and Wicked star, 31, had a funny exchange with photographers on the red carpet.
In a video captured by Bustle, Grande poses with one foot extended in front of the other. She asks the photographers, âIs this a good place for my toe?â and then jokes, âIâve committed to this pose,â as onlookers laugh.
After she moves down the line to another photographer, Grande asks, âWould you like something different?â A voice off-camera says âNo, thatâs good,â and she continues posing.
For the event, which was presented by Chanel, Grande wore a sparkly structured minidress with a plunging neckline. She added a pair of black tights, black pointed-toe pumps and a black ribbon in her blonde hair, which was pulled back into a sleek updo.
Per a press release, the Academy Womenâs Luncheon brought together âwomen from all facets of the filmmaking communityâ to celebrate the Academy Gold Fellowship for Women, a program that supports emerging women filmmakers.
On Monday Dec. 9, it was announced that Grandeâs role as Glinda in Wicked earned her a Golden Globe nomination. The star was nominated for performance by a female actor in a supporting role.

âItâs hard to protect yourself from that noise,â she said. âItâs something that is uncomfortable no matter what scale youâre experiencing it on, even if you go to Thanksgiving dinner and someoneâs granny says âOh my god you look skinnier, what happened?â or âyou look heavier what happened?'â
The star added she relies on her family and friends for support.
âIâm really lucky to have the support system that I have and to just know and trust that Iâm beautiful. But I do know what the pressure of that noise feels like,â she explained. âItâs been a resident in my life since I was 17. I just donât invite it in anymore. I have work to do, I have a life to live, I have friends to love on. I have so much love. Itâs not invited, so I donât leave space for it anymore.âÂ
