‘American Idol’ fans plead for Katy Perry to be booted off the show after cringeworthy video of her pretending to be a cat goes viral: ‘Can’t stand her’

Katy Perry left American Idol fans stunned and appalled after a cringeworthy video of her dressed up and acting like a deranged cat was posted on the show’s Instagram Saturday. 

Now, the singer is facing backlash as viewers are calling for her to be booted off the show entirely. 

In the clip, Katy – dressed in shiny black high-waisted spandex leather pants, paired with a long sleeve deep V-neck sheer bodysuit and what appear to be at least six inch pointy platform booties – is sitting at the judges table along with Luke Bryan, 46, and Lionel Richie, 73.   

The conspicuous ensemble drew attention from her co-judges. The ‘All Night Long’ singer commented ‘we have cat woman with us,’ which elicited a laugh from Bryan who called his co-judge ‘Katy Purry’. 

This prompted the ‘Dark Horse’ singer to jolt out of her seat, kick one leg out in the air before placing her foot on top of the judges table. 

The bizarre act doesn’t end there. Katy then finished off the performance by curling her hands like claws while pawing at Bryan’s shoulder. 

‘I’m ready to prowl for talent,’ she said. ‘That’s me pawing,’ she added as Bryan can be seen uncomfortably smiling. 

Fans of the show were not impressed – many calling the video cringeworthy and pleading for Katy’s removal as Idol judge.  

‘Can’t stand her they need to get rid of her & Luke,’ one user said.   

Another claiming this was ‘so stupid’ to be aired on TV. 

‘So stupid on TV now people are seeing exactly what everyone got to witness’

Another bothered viewer commented: ‘Lost her respect in Australia … wonder why Katy??’

Some are claiming it was inappropriate to touch another co-judge on air.  

‘We should never have a Judge acting like she did touching men on show Quack O.’ 

Despite the backlash received, a few fans stood up for the ‘Roar’ singer in the comments. 

‘Katy is so amazing !!!’ one wrote. 

Another added: ‘I love you Katy, you perfect, beautiful, nice, humble, very good.’ 

Others were somewhere in the middle, ultimately unsure of what to make of the bizarre incident. 

‘Not sure what to think anymore  … on this one. But they are entertaining or entertainers. Some over do it Or it gets to what’s expected. Becomes repetitive. It’s a pattern.’ 

This isn’t the first time Katy has received criticism from fans.

Katy has a fair share of fan backlash throughout the most recent season of American Idol for her behavior, wardrobe and comments to contestants. 

Those who want her booted from the show might get their wish soon, as rumors Katy is considering leaving the show spread.

Katy Perry was reportedly ready to quit American Idol after six years back in May after facing furious backlash all season and over fears she is being repeatedly ‘thrown under the bus by producers’ who she believes have purposefully edited her to look like the ‘nasty judge’.

The 38-year-old popstar has faced a slew of controversy and scandal this season and according to sources said she had reached a breaking point when she was booed for doling out criticism to contestants.
