- Earle’s post, which encourages fans to give their skin a break, even caught the attention of Paris Hilton
Alix Earle went out this weekend — without any makeup.
“The info I have gathered is that no one cares & we are our own worst enemy,” the influencer, 24, wrote on Instagram on Sunday, Apr. 6.
The carousel post included photos and clips from Earle’s weekend in the Big Apple. The content creator got together with friends, attended parties and even visited a dermatologist. Earle was sure to highlight her makeup-free face — displaying a current acne breakout on her cheek and neck. But the lack of cosmetics taught her a valuable lesson.
“After 3 days of being out fresh-faced show[ing] my real skin … I realized no one cared or noticed,” she wrote in the caption. “At the end of the day, putting makeup over blistering acne just to wash it off and irritate it isn’t for me.”
She continued: “It’s for others who I’m scared may judge me.”
On TikTok, she posted highlights from the trip with her boyfriend, Braxton Berrios. The itinerary included a visit with Dr. Kiran Mian. The visit included time with an esthetician and a full face of extractions. The appointment finished with oxygen, a mask and LED therapy. In the next video, Mian explains the best path to recovery.
“She is not allowed to wear any makeup, just for two days,” the dermatologist explains in the TikTok. “Not that makeup is bad, but just to give her skin a break.”
The purpose is to let the skin “reset” after the pores were opened. After the process, her skin shouldn’t be as reactive. Mian noted how “brave” she is to show everyone her bare skin as some of her patients struggle to go to the grocery store without a full face.
“As someone who has always struggled with their skin since middle school, makeup has always been a safe space for me in terms of feeling secure and confident when leaving the house,” Earle detailed on Instagram. “The problem is normally I go right into my routine which is putting on makeup to cover the redness (especially when I’m going out to dinners or to events). But wanted to give my skin a break this wknd so for the first time ever I opted not to wear any makeup on my skin.”
She added: “Seems dramatic but for me, I was petrified and felt like the only thing people were going to look at was my skin.”
After going to her mom’s birthday dinner, the bars and an engagement party, she felt liberated.
“I encourage anyone who needs to give their skin a break at school, work, etc to try it. Real skin is beautiful,” the SipMARGS investor wrote. “Will keep u guys posted on what I’m using on my skin to clear it.”
