Alex Cooper has conducted a lot of interviews for the “Call Her Daddy” podcast since 2018, but her episode with actress Megan Fox stands out among the rest.
“I think it was one of the most incredible interviews that she’s ever given in her career,” Cooper, 29, told Us Weekly exclusively while promoting the newly announced Unwell Hydration beverage. “I was absolutely floored by her, and I was really proud of the interview.”
Cooper noted that Fox, 38, has been “so sexualized and misunderstood and objectified,” so the fact that listeners were given the opportunity to see a different side of the actress when the episode dropped in March is a point of pride for the podcast host.
“I just felt like as a woman, it was such a fun moment to watch this person really articulate what her experience was,” she told Us. “That’s why I’m so proud of the show.”
When Cooper started “Call Her Daddy” six years ago, she had one specific goal in mind — disrupt a male-dominated industry. All these years later, that goal hasn’t changed.
“I want to be a part of the conversation,” the podcast host said. “I always want women to go for what they want, even if only men have occupied that position in the past.”
Cooper expanded her podcast empire with the Unwell Network —a community for creators — earlier this year, going on to launch podcasts with influencers like Alix Earle and Harry Jowsey. Now, she’s gearing up to make her foray into a new world — the beverage industry.
“I think hydration is something that [is] an underserved conversation,” Cooper told Us. “Everyone’s, like, always ‘stay hydrated, stay hydrated, stay hydrated,’ but what does that even mean?”
Cooper is here to answer that question with Unwell Hydration, a functional beverage for women. The podcast host has been teasing “Alex’s Super Secret Project” for weeks on social media. Finally, on Wednesday, December 4, she announced Unwell Hydration, which Cooper is calling “your new best friend … with benefits.”
She told Us that Unwell Hydration was “a natural evolution” of the brand.
“When you think of Unwell, it kind of always has to do with being dehydrated,” Cooper explained, telling Us that she thought about her own personal “unwell behaviors” for inspiration.
“The point of the drink is to kind of meet you where you’re at, and it is for everybody in whatever unwell state you are in,” she said. “No one is perfect. We’re all a little unwell.”
Available in three flavors, Strawberry, Mango Citrus and Orange Hibiscus, the drink will be available for purchase ($2.49 per 16.9 fluid oz bottle and $14.99 for an 8 pack) exclusively at Target starting New Year’s Day.
