Al Roker is committed to reporting the weather, even if it means bracing its strongest elements.
From Sunday into Monday, much of the northeast was swiftly enveloped in snow as a blizzard, the first to hit New York City since 2016, came down.
Much of New York City has effectively shut down, with a traffic ban set in place overnight, however that didn’t stop the TODAY anchor from making his way to NBC studios.
Al took to Instagram and shared a glimpse into his treacherous commute, seemingly on foot, to Rockefeller Plaza from his townhome in the Upper East Side, Sunday night, revealing that he slept at NBC studios to be there before the 9pm traffic ban in order to kick off the broadcast at 7am.
Fans were then quick to take to the comments section under the post and cheer him on, with one writing: “Stay safe and warm! And happy snow day to all the kids and teachers!” as others followed suit with: “Love you Al! Be careful walking to work!” and: “I love Al’s weather reports from his front stoop!” as well as: “Mr. Roker you’re a national treasure.”
