Barbara has some good news!
In PEOPLEâs exclusive sneak peek of Abbott Elementary, Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) gets more than she bargained for when she shares exciting new information with her fellow teachers in the breakroom.
After Principal Ava (Janelle James) makes a few incorrect guesses about her announcement, including Janine (Quinta Brunson)âs pregnancy, Barbara proudly reveals, âMy baby is having a baby! Iâm going to be a grandmother!â
As the teachers rush to give Barbara a hug, Ava asks Gregory (Tyler James Williams), âHow does it feel now that your girlfriend Barbâs fake daughter is gonna be a fake aunt to your ex-girlfriendâs baby, which makes you a fake uncle to your âcould-have-beenâ child?â to which he replies, âWhatâs wrong with you?â
The news circulates and prompts the teachers to reminisce about their own grandmothers, which doesnât end up sitting well with Barbara.
âI had two amazing nonnas. One had eyes like a hawk. She could spot a wire under a wool sweater. The other one hearing like a wax moth, she could hear the rustle and wire under a silk blouse,â Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) says with a smile.
When Barbara nervously asks if all of their grandmothers are dead, Ava assures her that one of her grandmothers is still alive.
âShe doesnât remember who I am. But it doesnât matter, because she has the two things that every good grandma needs: hypertension and a moo-moo,â she replies as Barbara gives her a quizzical look about her fashion choices. âYouâll never find one in my closet, but every grandmother worth her weight in salt has one.â
While Gregory marvels at the practicality of a moo-moo, Melissa steps in and notes that âBarbaraâs too young for moo-moos!â
âOne grandchild does not mean itâs moo-moo time!â she adds as Gregory admits he wouldnât mind a âmen-mooâ â a moo-moo made for men.
