Hayden Panettiere died in her South Carolina home after an “overdose,” according to 911 dispatch audio obtained by Page Six.
Paramedics responded to a call about an “unidentified female” in “cardiac arrest” on Sunday and, within minutes, “CPR [was] in progress.”
Law enforcement sources told TMZ on Monday that Panettiere’s friend called 911 at 1:51 p.m.
Emergency responders attempted to resuscitate Panettiere” at her apartment complex with “advanced cardiac life support” and chest compressions, but the 36-year-old was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m.
There were reportedly no signs of foul play, with the police telling TMZ the circumstances surrounding her death did not appear suspicious.
It remains unclear whether Panettiere’s on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, was the one who placed the call.
Hickerson, who was first linked to Panettiere in 2018 and recently admitted to “abusing her,” flew from Los Angeles to South Carolina with the “Heroes” alum on Saturday.
Her cause of death is not yet known at this time.
Per TMZ, the Greenville County coroner will perform an autopsy Monday.
Panettiere’s rep has yet to respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
News broke of the “Nashville” alum’s death over the weekend, with her father confirming the “tragic passing” to Page Six “with profound sadness.”
Skip Panettiere added, “She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen. We ask for privacy as our family takes time to process this unimaginable loss.”
Celebrities’ social media tributes for Hayden have been rolling in from former co-stars, including Melissa Barrera, Bethany Joy Lenz and more.
Hayden has been open about her struggles with opioid and alcohol addiction and postpartum depression.
She is survived by 11-year-old daughter Kaya, whom she welcomed in 2014 with then-fiancé Wladimir Klitschko.
Hayden’s younger brother, Jansen Panettiere, died in February 2023 at 28 of an undiagnosed heart condition.
