Trent and Amber Johnston are celebrating another marriage milestone, but it’s sure to bring the waterworks.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive first look at the upcoming season of 7 Little Johnstons, Amber and Trent’s five children organize a sweet surprise in honor of their 25th anniversary. The siblings lead their parents through their family home, where each room represents a special moment in their family’s history.
When it’s time for Jonah’s tribute to Amber and Trent’s anniversary, things get teary-eyed when he plays a home video of his birth and the Johnstons look back at his scary premature arrival.
As the video plays on screen, the Johnstons watch footage of Jonah straight out of the womb.
“Little that cute baby,” a nurse checking his vitals says in the video. “He just needs a little help breathing right now, but he’s coming around. He’s looking good. He’s starting to breathe some on his own.”
Trent can be seen anxiously looking over Jonah as healthcare professionals explain that they’ve inserted a “tube in his lungs helping him breathe.”
“Sometimes babies just need a little what we call a jump start,” the nurse tells Trent, who nervously replies, “God, does he?”
As he’s reassured about Jonah’s condition onscreen, Amber wipes away tears from her eyes as she watches the footage.
“In that moment there, we were literally minute by minute on if we were going to leave a hospital with a baby or without a baby,” Amber says as she gets emotional.
In a conversation with cameras, Trent explains that Jonah was born “five and a half weeks early” and hadn’t been breathing when entered the world.
“His lungs did not work, and they were not developed all the way. And he was on life support for six and a half weeks,” he continues. “Jonah was six and a half, seven weeks old before we ever heard him make a sound.”
As Amber and Trent tear up after a walk down memory lane, they joke they should have saved Jonah’s room for last.
“It’s hard seeing my parents get emotional because when I was born, my dad was around my age. And I know it’s something that right now — I couldn’t handle it,” Jonah admits in his own confessional. “And the fact that they were able to do it, it is the reason why I’m here.”
“I would definitely say that Jonah’s birth brought Trent and I closer together,” Amber adds.
